Imaging is NOT indicated if ALL criteria are absent (Focal deficit, Midline tenderness, Altered LOC, Intoxication, Distracting injury).Clinical Pearls
Has a sensitivity of >99% for ruling out clinically significant cervical spine injuries, sparing patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Limitations
The definition of a "distracting injury" can be subjective. Use clinical judgment. Not adequately validated in young pediatric patients (e.g., < 8 years).
